TMP is a community of theatrical storytellers in Central Oregon valuing artistic education, performance innovation, audience engagement, and community involvement.

Founded in 2011 by Artistic Director, David DaCosta, Thoroughly Modern Productions has quickly become a leader in the storytelling experience. We are inspired by our core values of artistic education, performance innovation, audience engagement, and community involvement. We seek to equip and empower artists and audiences alike.

TMP has been the creative force behind several productions including Annie the Musical, The Little Mermaid, The Last 5 Years, Shrek the Musical, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, and The Wizard of Oz. Our unique youth workshop format provides an opportunity to learn the art of stagecraft including acting, singing, dancing, set designing, and stage managing from our talented team of directors while working alongside our experienced adult ensemble of artists. These workshops, offered twice a year in winter and summer, are bolstered by other productions throughout the year and our new TMP Theatre Academy. We invite you to join us as a story teller, story hearer, and story sponsor as we elevate the arts and foster dynamic relationships in Central Oregon.

TMP’S CORE VALUES

Artistic Education

TMP values artistic education. We develop the individual artist so they are prepared to take part in the artistic culture as a whole. We articulate a collective vision, we promote teamwork, and we instill a desire for leadership within our creative endeavors. Each TMP production is a collaboration between artists, storytellers, and our audience.

Audience Engagement

TMP values audience engagement and is committed to rethinking and reshaping the storytelling experience. Our audience members are active participants, shaping the stories we tell and how they are told. We enlist multi-disciplined, ambitious, and innovative individuals who are committed to the hard work of redefining and reimagining the purpose and process of storytelling. By our stories, we create an environment where artists and audience members engage each other and grow together in true community.

Performance Innovation

TMP values performance innovation, crossing over conventional confines, by embracing personality and creativity. We consider both conventional and non-conventional ways of bringing performances to a diverse and expanding audience. Using modern theater and film techniques, we reach beyond convention to touch the heart of the story. Our artists, in collaboration with the directive team, inform the work as much as the work itself, thus infusing our productions with dynamic personality.

Community Involvement

TMP values community involvement and aspires to play a leading role in our community. This is our role of a lifetime which we wholeheartedly and thoughtfully embrace. Storytelling is our primary motivation. We share stories that reflect the present and remind us of the past, for it is both which shape and strengthen who we are. We proudly serve our community by modeling and sharing our values of education, innovation, engagement, and involvement. We are not an isolated segment of the arts community but active members of the Central Oregon community as a whole.
